A Soul Food and Southern Favourite

Macaroni and cheese was initially cooked up during the 19th century and became famous as an American comfort food. It began as a true American staple during the 1930s and was introduced as a simple and quick to cook meal. Based on a recent report, there are more than 10 million packaged macaroni and cheese meals sold every week. With this figures, it's obvious that this food is a favourite. Here's an easy way of making a Soul Food Macaroni and Cheese to experience the delight of a popular American food.

Recipe Ingredients:

1-1/2 Pound Shredded Cedar Cheese

1 Box Elbow Macaroni, About 16 Ounces
1 Cup Whole Milk
1 Stick Butter, Unsalted and Softened
Pepper to Taste
A Pinch of Salt
Recipe Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Soften the butter using the microwave. Microwave the butter for about 60 to 90 seconds. Check the butter every 10 to 15 seconds, and make sure that it does not melt.

3. Boil the elbow macaroni as indicated on the package instructions.

4. When the macaroni is already cooked, drain it and transfer to a casserole dish. Add the softened butter, together with the milk, pepper to add taste, pinch of salt, and one pound shredded cheddar cheese. Mix the ingredients gently. Layer the top of the macaroni with the rest of the ½ pound cheese.

5. Bake the macaroni with cheese for about an hour at 350 degrees. When the top layer turns golden brown, your macaroni is now ready to serve.
